HISTORIC MOTORSPORTS FESTIVAL 2012


The Historic Race Car Festival returned to the Sonoma Plaza on Saturday, June 2nd. Over 30 classic race cars paraded from the Sonoma Raceway to a ceremonial lap around the square. The cars were parked around the plaza from 5:30 to 8:00 pm.
Spectators were also able to enjoy a selection of good food that was provided by Basque Boulangerie, Epicurean Connection, Murphy's Irish Pub, The Red Grape, Swiss Hotel, Ben & Jerry's and Tuscan Cowgirl Dezerts. Fine wine was made available by several local wineries, including B.R. Cohn, Chandelle, Deerfield Ranch, Highway 12 Vineyards, Robledo Family Winery, and Valley of the Moon Winery.
Spectators voted for their favorite vehicles in two categories, pre-1940 and post-1940. The winners were Ed Archer of Hayward for his 1915 Ford Model T, and Steve Schuler of Capistrano Beach for his 1991 Mustang.

"The Phil Hill" Trophy was awarded to the car with the best overall performance and presentation, this years award went to Brian Blain of Visalia for his 1911 National!

All proceeds of this exciting event directly benefit the Sonoma Valley Education Foundation thanks to the Speedway Children's Charities!
